ESAB G50 Welding Helmet – Flip-Up ADF Helmet for Welding & Grinding

The ESAB G50 welding helmet is a versatile, combined welding and grinding solution designed for welders who regularly switch between tasks. With its flip-up visor system, automatic darkening filter (ADF), and a large clear inner visor, it offers excellent visibility, efficiency and protection across a wide mix of welding and cutting processes. This makes it a popular choice among professional welders, hobby fabricators and workshop mechanics alike.

Designed to withstand harsh welding environments, the G50 delivers reliable performance in MMA, MIG/MAG, TIG, plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting and grinding applications .

Why Choose the ESAB G50 Helmet For Welding and Grinding?

Flip-Up Visor for Fast Switching

The hallmark of the esab g50 design is its flip-up front visor. Lift the ADF and you instantly access the large clear inner visor — perfect for grinding, setup work and inspections without removing the helmet .

Auto-Darkening ADF (DIN 9–13)

The helmet’s automatic darkening filter covers shade levels 9–13, supporting a wide variety of welding processes while offering a comfortable, consistent transition into weld mode .

Wide, Unobstructed View

With a 97 × 47 mm viewing area, the G50 provides ample visibility for arc control and joint tracking. Once the ADF visor is flipped up, the large clear lens gives a panoramic field of view ideal for detailed grinding and mechanical work.

Approved for Grinding

Rated B-class for impact resistance, the helmet is compliant for grinding operations — a major advantage over many standard welding helmets .

Solar-Powered, No Battery Replacements

The ADF module is powered by a solar cell system, eliminating the need for battery changes.

Who Is the ESAB G50 Best For?

  • Simple mechanical flip-up design with no menus to navigate

  • Perfect for DIY projects with varied tasks

Motor Mechanics & Workshop Users

  • Wide clear view for inspection and diagnostic tasks

  • MMA / Stick

  • MIG / MAG

  • TIG (including AC/DC pulse)

  • Plasma cutting

  • Oxy-fuel cutting

  • Grinding (B-rated impact protection)

Not suitable for laser welding.

The ESAB G-Series Compared (G30, G40, G50)

ESAB's G series of welding helmets is perfect for situations where you are not quite ready to invest in our top end helmets like the Sentinel A60 Air or the Savage A41 Air. From the passive G30 to the ADF fitted G50 you have very functional helmets with a flip front visor

  • G30 – the passive inner visor G30 can be used as a cutting & grinding helmet with mix-and-match visor shades.

  • G40 – benefits from the large clear visor with passive outer cover. The G40  is another good choice where shade choice is simple.

  • G50 – adds auto darkening filter (ADF) + flip-up function for fast switching between welding and grinding

This makes the G50 the most versatile model in the G-Series for combined welding and grinding tasks. For modest extra investment it also comes in an air fed version.
