Protective Welders' Gloves for Welding and Related Activities
At Weldtech, we offer a wide range of gloves to protect your
hands during welding tasks. Our gloves are sourced from top brands like ESAB,
Parweld, SWP, and Reca, ensuring you get the best in quality and safety.
Why do we need gloves in welding? Welding is a high heat and
relatively high hazard process. It’s not just eyes that need to be looked
after. A decent pair of leather or synthetic gloves will protect you from the
risk of electric shocks, the flames of gas welding, spatters of hot metal or
flux. The workpieces themselves can get incredibly hot, especially if you are
welding aluminium. It’s not just the hot work of the welding itself. Grinding,
heaving sheets of metal or components around can create sharp or flying metal.
The UV rays from the arc are just as bad for the skin of your hands as the
face.
A proper pair of heat-resistant welding gloves are the first
line of defence against the hand hazards of the trade Different processes may
use different gloves – hence the difference in emphasis for TIG and MIG gloves.
What are the glove requirements for welding?
According to the American Welding Society's guidance, gloves used in welding should be:
- Dry and moisture resistant.
- In good condition, no holes or tears.
- Flame resistant.
- Electrically and thermally insulated to suit the process.
- Flexible--allow easy movement and full range of motion.
- Comfortable--proper fit and size.
- Made with materials, seams, and edges that do not affect the
health or safety of the user.
- Durable, tough, and long lasting.
- Cut, scrape, tear, and puncture resistant

Glove Materials– The Key to Keeping Hands in Top Condition
What are welding gloves made of?
Our welding gloves are made from a variety of materials,
each chosen for its protective qualities and comfort. Many materials are used.
The different materials have variious properties affecting its performance and
usefulness in different welding scenarios.
These are the most common materials and some of their useful
properties:
- Cowhide: this type of leather is tough, durable, flame and
heat-resistant. It also has good electrical resistance when dry.
- Calfskin: has better flexibility allowing greater dexterity
– important in TIG welding - than cowhide but it’s not quite as tough.
- Pigskin: This is flexible, oil resistant and quick drying.
- Rubber: Despite its poor heat resistance, it is moisture
proof (but sweaty) and gives very good electrical insulation.
- Treated Cotton: might seem an unusual choice but it is
absorbent, lightweight, flexible. Probably more suited to linings.
- Aluminized finishes: these improve heat resistance by
reflecting the infra-red heat radiation from the weld.
- Goatskin: this gives very light weight, comfortable
gloves, with superior dexterity. It’s
pretty durable as well.
- Deerskin: sometimes used because of its good touch
sensitivity.
- Elk Skin: This is the most heat, flame, and abrasion
resistant leather. It’s also pretty comfortable for your hands. People rate it
for its excellent protection when stick welding.
We haven’t yet identified a good vegan leather option for
our welding customers.
Non-leather welding gloves
For those who prefer non-leather options, we offer a range
of synthetic gloves that provide excellent protection and durability.
Important Features of Welding Gauntlets and Gloves
Heat Resistance in Welding Gloves
Heat resistance is a critical feature of our welding gloves,
protecting your hands from burns and high temperatures. Heat-resistant gloves
are particularly important in techniques like MIG or plasma cutting.
Gauntlet style welding gloves for better arm protection
Our welding gauntlets extend protection beyond the hands,
covering part of the forearm to guard against radiant heat, sparks and spatter.
Durability:
Weldtech's range of welding gloves are made from
high-quality materials like leather and advanced synthetics, ensuring they last
longer.
Comfort and Fit:
Ergonomically designed for a comfortable fit, our gloves
allow for extended use without discomfort.
Types Gloves for Welders
Heavy-Duty Industrial Welding Gloves for Tough Jobs
For heavy-duty tasks, our gloves provide robust protection
and durability, making them ideal for intensive welding activities. From
heavy-duty heat resistant MIG gauntlets to the light flexible leather TIG
welding gloves, we've got the right design for you, wherever you work in the
industry.
MIG Welding Gloves for Professional Welders
Our MIG gloves have been built to suit the particular
conditions of MIG welding. Many welding pros say it's MIG that kills welding
gloves! MIG gauntlets and gloves are usually thicker and more heat-resistant,
ensuring long-lasting protection and comfort.
TIG Welding Gloves and Gauntlets
TIG welding gloves are designed for flexibility and
precision. Our selection has a variety of leather and deerskin palms. Some have
thumb crunch protection. Cow hide cuffs, soft cotton linings and fingers shaped
for dexterity, mark out the premium tig welding gauntlets and gloves for the
regular TIG welder.
Glove or Welders Gauntlet?
In some ways this is a personal choice. gloves are fine if
your arms are covered. Gauntlets give you protection higher up your arm. Some
of these gauntlets even extend to the elbows, even though we don't normally
supply these.
General Hand Protection for The Welder
For the prep and clearing up work that is a part of every
welder's life it's handy to have pairs of rigger gloves or other cut resistant
work gloves to hand.
